The Elks Temple Building, at 309 Middle Street, is a complete rehabilitation and historic redevelopment project by Empire Properties offering premier office (with state-of-the-art amenities) and retail space for lease. The Elks Temple will also include about 40 parking spaces located on the same block.
The Elks Temple, built in 1908, is a lasting relic of buildings that housed fraternal organizations. The building construction was funded by the Elks, who used the top floor as their lodge for a number of years. The Elks Temple is the tallest and most prominent commercial building in downtown New Bern. A view of both rivers can be seen from the uppermost stories of the building.
