The building located at 509 W North Street (commonly referred to as 520 W Lane Street) was built by Leon Weaver in 1950. Two years after construction, it became a curtain upholstery shop called Weaver's Curtains. The building is reinforced by up to 4 times more steel than was required at the time it was built. Since Weaver's Curtains was a wholesale shop carrying heavy equipment and even heavier products, the shop required a building that could support weights higher than the usual tenant. After the upholstery shop closed, it was vacant for some time. Empire purchased the building in 2000 and after an extensive rehabilitation, their first tenant opened. It was a gym by the name of Capital Fitness and later Rapid Fitness. In 2011, Empire sold the building to its current owners. Today, it is home to Centerline Digital.
